Proposal for a building with 36 social housing units in Palma de Mallorca. Public competition organized by IBAVI.

We had the challenge of creating a compact and highly efficient building that included 36 social housing units. The building is low-energy, and all the apartments are dual-aspect, facing both the exterior street and the interior courtyard from which they are accessed. This allows all the apartments to benefit from cross-ventilation, which also helps to mitigate Palma's high summer temperatures.

The street-facing facade is designed to protect from the morning sun, incorporating diamond-shaped patterns that reference the old textile factory once located on the site.

Teníamos el reto de realizar un edificio compacto y muy ajustado que incluía 36 viviendas de interés social. El edificio es de bajo consumo energético y todos los apartamentos tienen doble orientación, tanto a la calle exterior como al patio interior desde el que se accede a las viviendas. Así, todas los apartamentos disfrutan de ventilación cruzada, que ayuda a suavizar también las altas temperaturas estivales de Palma.

Las fachada a la calle está diseñada para proteger del sol por las mañanas, incorporando patrones en forma de rombo que hacen referencia a la antigua fábrica de textiles situada en el lugar.
